The great news on the construction is that the installation of the roof above the fourth floor is substantially complete.
In addition, the sheet rock has been started on the second floor. Brick is now being installed on the north face and is complete on the east face.
The windows have been installed on the north and east face of the building.
It is really starting to take form now and look like part of the medical center.

The next major part of the project will focus on the interior when framers, electricians, plumbers and sheet metal workers begin working in the next few weeks.
The Heart Hospital will feature two unique design components: a two story atrium for the front lobby and main entrance and the four-story eliptunda (an elliptical rotunda) that will have a spectacular feature wall with a one-of-a-kind design.
There are two phases of this four-story expansion. The first phas...

Construction on target after recent rain
Construction of Knoxville’s only dedicated Heart Hospital is on schedule and moving right along. Even though winter was mild, all of the recent rain slowed down construction, but we are overcoming the delay and are exactly where we planned to be at this time.
Plans are for the four-story expansion to open in April 2010.
Recent construction included the erection of the steel that forms the structure as well as concrete poured for the ground, first and ...

Improving patient entrance
Testing of the soil and rock has revealed that some of our footing locations will need some additional work. This will necessitate relocation of the MRI entrance.
The plan is to relocate this to the Emergency Department entrance. This will provide a much better entrance for those patients. Parking will be provided on that side and signage will be changed to direct people to that location. The individual department will notify their patients when this change will take place.
>It is expected to happen sometime in the next two weeks. ...
