The Region II EMS Directors Association recently awarded UT LIFESTAR with the Service of the Year award for the outstanding service it provides to the community. UT LIFESTAR, the aeromedical service of The University of Tennessee Medical Center, received the recognition for several reasons, including:
- 25 years of service to the region
- Recent program expansion
- UT LIFESTAR’s continued role operating the Regional Medical Communications Center
- Continuing education efforts
- Ongoing support of the EMS Directors Association
“It is meaningful to be recognized by your peers,” said Jeff Gregory, program director of UT LIFESTAR. “All UT LIFESTAR staff should be commended for their professionalism in the field and how they represent the medical center and our program throughout the region.”
This is the first time the Region II EMS Directors Association recognized regional EMS providers with several categories of awards. In addition to the Service of the Year award, other awards given out included EMT of the Year, Paramedic of the Year, EMS Director of the Year, a Lifetime Achievement award and the President’s Award.
UT LIFESTAR’s headquarters is located at UT Medical Center in Knoxville with additional bases in Morristown, Sevierville, Sweetwater and Andersonville. UT LIFESTAR services a 21 county region in East Tennessee, as well as portions of Southeast Kentucky and Western North Carolina. On average, UT LIFESTAR transports more than 200 patients monthly.
