The University of Tennessee Medical Center recently promoted Wendy Franklin to Advanced Practice Nurse for the Heart Lung Vascular Institute. In that role, she manages Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services, provides staff development for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and Cardiovascular Interventional Center and is coordinator for Therapeutic Hypothermia for Post Cardiac Arrest. Additionally, she works for University Pulmonary and Critical Care as a nurse practitioner.

Franklin, who joined UT Medical Center in 1999, previously worked at Cocke County Baptist Hospital as a staff nurse.

A graduate of East Tennessee State, Franklin received a B.S. in Nursing. She attended the University of Tennessee and received a Master of Science in Nursing with Honors in 2004. She later was awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Adult Health from UT in 2007. In addition, she is certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and as a Critical Care Nurse.

Franklin lives in Newport with her husband, Barney. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and making jewelry.
