Knoxville Emergency Medicine Available from Experts in Trauma and Emergency

Emergency and Trauma Services is the only Level I Trauma Center in the area for adults and children and serves as the tertiary referral center for medical care in East Tennessee, serving Knox County and 21 surrounding counties. The healthcare experts in the Emergency Department treat more than 60,000 patients each year with a commitment to individualized patient-centered care and teamwork.

Whether arriving by ambulance, LIFESTAR or private vehicle, emergency medicine patients receive a full range of medical care. The emergency medicine facility is comprised of four areas: a critical resuscitation bay for the most seriously injured or ill patients; an emergent treatment area for those with a potentially serious problem; an urgent care area for the less ill and injured; and the Clinical Decision Unit for long-term evaluations and treatment of specific medical problems.

The 2007 Trauma Report gives you a better understanding of what it means to be a trauma center, meet some of the people who are here every hour of every day to care for injured patients and to think about what would happen if the trauma center was not here.
