Chief Nursing Officer Welcomes Knoxville Nurses

Welcome to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, a wonderful place to practice your profession!

It is with pride that I welcome you to the University of Tennessee Medical Center’s nursing website. We hope you will take a few minutes to learn about professional nursing at the region’s only academic medical center. Here, approximately 1,100 RNs from every specialty come together with their expert skills to provide outstanding compassionate patient care. We serve as the only Level I trauma center, regional perinatal center, regional hemophilia center and transplant center in the Knoxville area. Additionally, all medical surgical specialties are represented.

The mission of the medical center is to provide care to the region with leadership in service, outcomes, collaboration and education. Our nurses strive to be the leaders in professional practice and patient care. Our nursing practice model supports our mission while our shared governance model supports the empowerment and autonomy of the nursing staff.

Because of our strong and bold mission, in 2012 we were recognized as a Magnet hospital. Achieving Magnet status demonstrates to all those we care for the expertise and compassion provided by our talented and dedicated nursing staff and other clinicians.

It is an honor to represent the wealth of knowledge and experience the nursing staff brings to patients throughout East Tennessee. Take a look; we think you will like what you see.
