Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Procedures

With pioneering techniques that require small incisions and very little down time, patients can plan their back surgeries without having to plan their lives around them.
By age 50, approximatly 85% of the population will begin to show evidence of disc degeneration. Spinal discs serve as cushions separating the vertebrae, individual bony segments of the spine.
Some of the minimally invasive spine procedures offered by the Minimally Invasive Spine Center include the following.
- Minimally invasive micro-discectomy and laminectomy
- Microdiscectomy will remove only that portion of your ruptured disc that is "pinching" one or more spinal nerve roots.
- Laminectomy will remove a part of the spinal cana's bony covering. - Minimally invasive spinal fusion
- Joining two bones in the spine using tiny rods and screws in order to stabilize the spine. Uses a surgical navigation system with 3-D computerized images and minimally invasive techniques. - Kyphoplasty
- Stabilizing of a vertebral compression fracture, often caused by osteoporosis. Done as an outpatient service and is a minimally invasive treatment for spine compressions due to fractures or osteoporosis, requiring only two needle-size incisions.
