Audiology Evaluation
Outpatients should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their first visit in order to complete the registration process.
- Bring two forms of identification including photo identification.
- Bring all health insurance cards. Patients without healthcare insurance will be offered services upon agreement to a self-pay plan.

Audiology
Unsedated ABR — Babies between the ages of one week and six months need to be scheduled for an auditory brainstem response test. Times are scheduled whenever the baby sleeps naturally. Pre-test instructions include the following.
- Sleep deprivation (keep up late, wake up early and don’t let them sleep in the car).
- Hold feeding prior to test.
- Test time is approximately 1.5 hours.
Sedated ABR—Children over the age of six months who cannot be tested using behavioral methods. These must be coordinated with the critical care nursery. Pre-test instructions include the following.
- Patient is allowed sips of liquid until two hours before the test if needed.
- Child must be sleep deprived (skip naps, keep up very late and wake up very early and do not let them sleep in the car).
- Test time is approximately 2 hours.
Hearing Tests—Children over six or seven months corrected age (corrected age means the age they would be if they were born on time).
- Test time is approximately 1 hour.
Hearing Screens—ALGO’s or OAE’s require baby to be asleep for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Bring baby tired.
- Can feed baby when they get to the appointment.
- Try not to let baby sleep in the car on the way to the appointment.
- Test time is approximately 30 minutes.
CAPD Evaluations—Scheduled when the child is alert and awake.
- Keep child on medication if prescribed.
- Test time is approximately 2.5 hours.
