Vertebroplasty

Vertebroplasty is an image-guided, minimally invasive, nonsurgical therapy used to strengthen a broken vertebra that has weakened by osteoporosis. Under the guidance of a 3-dimensional X-ray a neuroradiologist inserts a needle into the spine and injects special cement into the fracture to fuse the fracture together. Instead of waiting weeks or months for the fracture to heal, the patient often becomes pain free within hours or days, and the procedure can often be done on an outpatient basis.
