THE MAN RUN 

A Family event that creates awareness towards prostate cancer.

On August 23 2014, UT Medical Center will celebrate Knoxville’s seventh annual The Man Run presented by Regal Entertainment Group. 100% of the proceeds benefitted  prostate cancer research, outreach and educational programs in East Tennessee. The Man Run is a 10K run 5K run/1-mile fun run/walk at The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

Event Times:Man Run 2014

  • 10K Race - 8 a.m.
  • 5K Race - 8:15 a.m.
  • 1 Mile Run/walk - 8:15 a.m.

One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. The nation will observe national Prostate Cancer Awareness Month during September.

  • Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and is responsible for more deaths than any other cancer, except for lung cancer.
  • A recent 2014 ACS report estimates there to be 233,000 new prostate cancer cases.
  • Men have a 35% higher chance of getting prostate cancer than women do of being diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Prostate cancer accounts for 1 in 4 newly diagnosed cancers each year among American men.
  • Cancer is the second most common death cause of death in the U.S. exceeded by heart disease. In Tennessee, there will be over 4,670 new cases diagnosed in 2014.
