Therapeutic Massage

There are numerous benefits from massage therapy, with studies confirming predictable outcomes in many cancer patients. Still, special care and consideration of the patient’s uniquely individual and continuously evolving needs will be exercised during each session. The result will assist the patient in maximizing their individual ability to achieve optimal vitality, whatever their current state of health.
Licensed massage therapist, Gayle Owens, LMT, owner of Winding Path Massage Therapy in Maryville, TN, in partnership with the UT Medical Center’s Cancer Institute, offers therapeutic massage services to patients, caregivers and staff. This service is offered in the Cancer Institute on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ms. JoAnne Lale, licensed massage therapist, offers her massage therapy services on Tuesdays.
Gayle completed her therapeutic massage training after working more than 14 years in the medical field and has since obtained additional extended training, including a certification in massage therapy specific to cancer patients. Additionally, Gayle is a level II Reiki practitioner and trained in Thai massage. Her focus lies in therapeutic massage in conjunction with traditional cancer therapies to improve the daily quality of life of her clients through non-pharmacological symptom management and guided relaxation.
Winding Path Massage Therapy happily donates its time and energy to such valuable causes as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Knoxville Affiliate.
