Breast Health Outreach Program
The Breast Health Outreach Program (BHOP) at UT Medical Center’s Cancer Institute is a unique grant-funded program providing essential breast health services.
Free Breast Health Education Classes
are offered on-site at businesses, churches, and other convenient locations in 21 East Tennessee counties. Classes focus on the importance of early detection including:
Digital Screening Mammograms
Access to Digital Screening Mammograms is provided on UT Medical Center’s state-of-the-art mobile mammography unit for both insured and uninsured women. Free clinical breast exams (CBE) are provided by a certified RN at sites with the greatest need. Providing screenings where women work, live and worship removes barriers as time off from work, childcare and transportation issues that often prevent women from being screened.
Referrals to Nurse Navigators
Referrals to Nurse Navigators at the Breast Care Service offer a comprehensive program for women experiencing a current breast problem or needing diagnostic and follow-up care. To speak with staff to ask questions and discuss available resources, contact UT Breast Care Service at 865.305.6921.
To schedule an education class or the mobile mammography unit, please call the Breast Health Outreach Program at 865.305.9753
The Breast Health Outreach Program is made possible through support from the Knoxville Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, AVON Foundation for Women Breast Care Fund and Champions for a Cause and the generosity of private foundations.
If you are interested in supporting our mission to ensure all women have access to breast health education and screenings, please contact the UT Office of Development at 865.305.6611 or donate online.
