Welcome to 'From the Social Worker's Desk'

Welcome to my new page, "From the Social Worker's Desk...." You now will have information and resources in one place brought to you directly from me.
My name is Teri Green, the Cancer Institute’s licensed clinical social worker, and as an enhanced service to patients, their family memebers and friends, I am hosting a new section that focuses on the issues patients with cancer encounter. Included in this section is information and resources to assist patients and caregivers as well as coping strategies for the diagnosis of cancer.
As a social worker and part of the Cancer Institute’s multidisciplinary team, I am able to provide counseling and support to patients with cancer as well as to their caregivers. Being diagnosed with cancer can take an emotional toll on everyone involved, leading to increased distress for patients and families.
In addition to counseling, I can provide assistance with financial concerns, insurance and other community resources. I also am available to help with advanced directives as well as notarize documents as needed.
This new section is a portal for patients and families to find answers and guidance. When people are diagnosed with cancer, they need to know they are not alone on this journey. The Cancer Institute's staff and I are available to support you and your family.
We look forward to providing this new service and welcome any questions or topics of interest. I can be reached by email at tagreen@utmck.edu or 865.305.6154.
Sincerely,
Teri Green
