University Breast Center (UBC) offers women comprehensive breast screening and diagnostic services. UBC is recognized as a prestigious Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. The award demonstrates excellence in breast imaging by successfully achieving accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
The all-female staff includes board-certified radiologists that specialize in breast imaging and registered technologists with specialized certification in mammography. The UBC staff is committed to providing state-of-the-art technology in conjunction with a high level of expertise that women need and deserve. Our services include the following.

Breast Care Service
The Breast Care Service (BCS) is a dedicated program offering patient education, evaluation services, individualized treatment plans, follow-up care and support services for patients with breast health concerns or newly diagnosed breast cancer. BCS nurse navigators organize and expedite care for women with a suspicious breast lump or known diagnosis of breast cancer, reducing the wait time and emotional toll that women experience when faced with these breast health conditions. Most women are scheduled to see a physician within 48 hours of the initial phone call to the BCS. The multidisciplinary team of breast health specialists meet weekly to discuss all new breast cancer cases and develop a plan of care.

Breast Health Outreach Program
The Breast Health Outreach Program (BHOP) is a unique program providing essential breast health services in a 21-county East Tennessee region. Free customized classes focus on the risks of breast cancer and the benefits of early detection through breast self awareness, clinical breast exams and mammograms. Classes are offered on nights, weekends or anytime that is convenient for participants. BHOP also provides access to digital mammograms on the UT Medical Center’s state-of-the-art mobile mammography unit. Providing screenings where women live, work and worship removes barriers such as time off from work, childcare and transportation issues that often prevent women from being screened.
