VISION STATEMENT: The University of Tennessee Medical Center Cancer Institute will overcome the challenge of cancer through cancer treatment, cancer research and cancer education in partnership with those we serve.

MISSION STATEMENT: The University of Tennessee Medical Center Cancer Institute will provide each patient with compassionate, comprehensive and coordinated care through a multidisciplinary, innovative approach. The foundation of our commitment is the pursuit of collaborative cancer research and cancer education focused on patients, health care professionals and the community.

The Cancer Institute diagnoses and treats more than 1,600 new cancer patients each year and records almost 50,000 patient visits. The multispecialty cancer team is committed to providing each patient individualized, compassionate, state-of-the-art care all in one convenient location. It services include Breast Services, Prostate Service, Smoking Cessation, PET/CT Scan, Chest Service, and the only CyberKnife Stereotactic Radiosurgery program in the Knoxville region.

The American College of Surgeon's Commission on Cancer recently granted a three-year Approval With Commendation to the UT Medical Center cancer program. The approval means that the Cancer Institute has demonstrated a Commendation level of compliance with those standards that represent the full scope of the cancer program, including leadership, data management, cancer clinical services, cancer research, community outreach and quality improvement.
