Medicine has made great progress in understanding how to prevent some of the most devastating diseases that women face – heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, arthritis, and some types of cancers. But, this scientific field still struggles with how disease processes and treatments affect men and women differently. For instance, we know a lot about how heart disease starts and how to prevent it, yet it is still the number one killer of American women.

UT Women’s Health & Wellness Center can help you and your family learn about common women’s diseases and issues – so you can decide on the steps you need to take in order to feel good and reduce your risk of serious health problems. The more you know about your health and the potential warning signs of diseases, the more effectively you can work with your doctors and other health professionals to care for yourself and family members. And, if you find that you need a new doctor to assist you, please contact the University Physicians Referral Service at 305-9640.
