What is Incontinence?
Incontinence simply means the involuntary loss of urine sever enough to have adverse social or hygienic consequences. Incontinence occurs when the bladder does not empty completely or does not store urine appropriately. Factors that contribute are weight, smoking, childbearing, certain medications and caffeine intake.
Stress incontinence is the sudden involuntary loss of urine typically caused by sneezing, coughing, laughing, jumping or any form of physical exertion. Urge incontinence occurs when the urge to urinate is very strong and you cannot reach the toilet in time because the bladder contracts abnormally during filling.
What is Pelvic Pain?
Pelvic pain generally means experiencing pain, pressure or ache usually localized in or around the vagina or rectal areas, lower abdomen, pelvis or sometimes back and thighs.

Completing a bladder voiding diary and symptom questionnaire Observation of vaginal/rectal area Internal vaginal pelvic floor examination Measurement of muscle activity using biofeedback Electrical stimulation Deep breathing and abdominal exercises Education on pelvic floor anatomy, bladder health/retraining and a home program consisting of pelvic floor exercises
