The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit admits patients from newborn through the teenage years of age. The PICU works in close collaboration with pediatric intensivists, pediatric trauma and surgical services, as well as pediatric cardiology and nephrology.

As a designated Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Emergency Care facility within the Trauma Center, critically injured children are referred from throughout east Tennessee, southeast Kentucky and western North Carolina.

Pediatric Rehabilitation

Pediatric rehabilitation services are offered on an inpatient and outpatient basis. These rehabilitation services include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology. Examples of common diagnoses are cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, developmental delay and speech/language delay.

Inpatient services are offered in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Outpatient services are offered at 5 North (Rehabilitation Services) and a satellite clinic in Morristown.
