The laboratories of the Neurodiagnostics Department perform several different types of functional studies of the Brain, Spine and Peripheral Nervous System. These may be ordered by your doctor when you report that you are experiencing symptoms that suggest there may be a dysfunction in one or more parts of the Nervous System.

We record tiny electrical signals that are produced when your brain, spine and peripheral nervous system connect and communicate. The information we record is produced by the actual workings of the system, but does not produce a picture or image. The signals are represented as "waves" or waveforms and you may have heard people refer to some of the data we collect as "brain wave" testing. The data the technicians collect is interpreted or read by UT Medical Center staff neurologists, who dictate a written opinion or report of its meaning.

Our technical staff is experienced and dedicated. The Neurodiagnostic technicians at UT Medical Center are often complimented by patients for the excellent care they provide. We are very proud of this reputation for respectful, conscientious and exceptional service. If your doctor has prescribed or ordered a Neurodiagnostic study at UT Neurodiagnostic Laboratory, our staff will do their best to see that your experience is as comfortable as can be provided anywhere.

Neuroradiologists

Neuroradiologists are radiologists who specialize in the use of radioactive substances, X-rays and scanning devices for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the nervous system. A neuroradiologist may be concerned with the clinical imaging, therapy, and basic science of the central and peripheral nervous system, including but not limited to the brain, spine, head and neck.
