Since PMERF’s founding, many research and educational projects at UT Medical Center have received their initial support from PMERF funds. In addition, community services such as the Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad receive regular grants.

Likewise, PMERF’s support helps augment the holdings of the UT Graduate School of Medicine’s Preston Medical Library and Learning Resource Center. PMERF Grants also allow residents and other medical personnel to attend professional, educational and scientific meetings. These are just a few of the many programs and personnel benefiting from gifts to PMERF

Tax Deductible Giving

The Physicians’ Medical Education and Research Foundation is chartered as a non-profit corporation within the State of Tennessee. PMERF has a separate and distinct board of directors and is not formally affiliated with the University of Tennessee or University Health System Inc. PMERF has been certified as a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation by the Internal Revenue Service and, thus, gifts are deductible for federal income tax purposes.

There are many ways to give.

• Checks or Cash—A cash gift to PMERF is the choice of many individuals and corporations. Checks should be made payable to Physicians' Medical Education and Research Foundation at 1924 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920; 865.305.9003.
• University Gift Credit—The University of Tennessee appreciates PMERF’s support of medical education and research initiatives at the UT Graduate School of Medicine and at UT Medical Center. An arrangement is maintained with UT whereby PMERF donors may receive gift credit from the University of Tennessee. This arrangement includes membership in all University of Tennessee gift clubs and societies.
