 The University of Tennessee Medical Center offers comprehensive medical coverage among the lowest in the region, including health insurance, dental insurance and eye care, and wellness options, including an employee fitness facility, that support employee health goals.
Employees also may decide to include life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, short-term disability insurance and long-term disability insurance in their benefits package for additional cost. Your enrollment in the medical plan also includes a co-payment prescription drug coverage and access to a mail order program as well as Flexible Spending Account options.
Each pay period, you will pay for your portion of these benefits with pre-tax dollars. Here is the breakdown of insurance offered by UT Medical Center.
- Medical – We offer two preferred provider organization (PPO) plans to our regular full-time and part-time employees. UHS pays a majority of the premium for single coverage as well as family coverage.
- Dental – As a regular full-time or part-time employee at UHS we offer an excellent dental plan. UHS pays a majority of the cost for single and family coverage.
- Vision – This plan is paid for by UHS as long as the employee has signed up for medical insurance. We have a wide network of providers with outstanding benefits.
- Life – UHS pays one times employees annual salary in life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance.
- Long-Term Disability – UHS pays 100% of the cost for long-term disability insurance for our employees.
- Voluntary – We offer our employees supplemental life, accidental death and dismemberment and short-term disability.
- Flexible Spending Accounts – Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), which include Dependent Care Reimbursements and Health Care Spending Account Expenses, are benefit options. You may elect to have pre-tax dollars deducted from your paycheck and placed in a FSA to utilize for health care and dependent/elder care expenses throughout the year.
