Directions

  • From I-40 take exit #386 (Airport / Smoky Mountains / Hwy 129). Go south on Hwy 129 to the exit marked Cherokee Trail / University Hospital.
  • From McGhee-Tyson Airport, take Hwy 129 North to the Cherokee Trail / University Hospital exit.

The University of Tennessee Medical Center is home to LIFESTAR. However, it recently opened a new base at the Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge airport. The new base means a faster response time to emergencies in Sevier County. The new base allows emergency staff to respond from Sevier County instead of from Knoxville, which cuts the response time in half and, therefore, increases patient chances of survival.
