The University of Tennessee Medical Center is pleased to announce the first annual Lights of Love program.

Lights of Love is a year-round program that provides a special way to honor or remember a loved one; to recognize a holiday or other special event; to say “thank you” for medical care received at the hospital; or to give a special holiday gift. All donations support the Pastoral Care Program and their important work providing emotional and spiritual guidance to the patients, families and staff at The University of Tennessee Medical Center.

We invite you to participate by giving a light to be placed on the Lights of Love tree which will be located at the East entrance of the medical center, just outside the Boling Pavilion. You can give a light for a minimum donation of $15. Names of those being honored or remembered and the names of each donor will be listed in the online Lights of Love Remembrance Book and will be on display in a special Remembrance Book kept in the hospital chapel.

To see your special gift come to “light,” please join us for an Illumination Ceremony on Nov. 19, 2009, in the Healing Garden at UT Medical Center.

To contribute to Lights of Love, please complete the downloadable form. All gifts are tax deductible and will be acknowledged.

Notification will be sent to the honoree, if you wish.

The chaplains of the Pastoral Care program at The University of Tennessee Medical Center are dedicated to the service of our patients and their families, bridging the physical needs with spiritual and emotional well-being through support, counsel and comfort in times of crisis and hardship. Each year, our chaplains serve tens of thousands of individuals during their time at the medical center; however this is not their only role. There is also a deep commitment to all of our community. Our Pastoral Care program extends well into our Knoxville and East Tennessee neighborhoods by providing training to local clergy, educating Pastoral Care residents and conducting outreach programs. Compassion is the heart of the Pastoral Care program as they provide support and counseling to those patients and families in need.

Your tribute gift to the Lights of Love program will not only shine a light for your loved one, but it will provide valuable resources for the Pastoral Care program and the patients and families they are dedicated to serving. Thank you for your gift and thank you for your compassion to those we serve.

If you would like additional information on Lights of Love or the Pastoral Care Program, please contact the Development Office at 865.305.6611 or email.
