Heart Hospital Expansion Project Overview
During the past several years, The University of Tennessee Medical Center has experienced unprecedented growth. In August 2016, we began a major expansion project to increase our capacity and allow us to continue to meet the growing needs of our community. The construction project will consist of adding several floors to the top of the Heart Hospital, with plans to open in early 2018. The expansion has the ability to add up to 150 beds over the course of several years.
As part of this construction project, the fountain circle entrance to the medical center will be closed to vehicles through the duration of the project. Pedestrian access to the Heart Hospital entrance will remain open.
The Cancer Institute parking lot also now has a new entrance due to the construction project. The new entrance to the Cancer Institute parking lot will now be on the front of the Cancer Institute parking lot off Main Drive. Patients can access this new entrance off Main Drive on the right, immediately after you pass Physicians Drive (the road that takes you between Medical Buildings B & C).
Garage H also has a new entrance related to the construction. The new entrance to H Garage is also now off Main Drive. Patients and team members accessing H Garage will now go through the roundabout and turn right into the new entrance to the garage.
We ask that patients please arrive early for appointments and allow extra time for parking during this period.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to make changes to the medical center that will allow us to better meet the needs of our patients, their family members, and our community.
