Auto Acceptance

LIFESTAR Aeromedical Services and the University of Tennessee Medical Center offer a solution to an age-old issue for referring hospitals. The combined efforts of LIFESTAR and UT Medical Center have streamlined the process of patient transfer to the Trauma Center or Intensive Care setting for those patients requiring further evaluation and treatment at a tertiary care facility. This system offers the referring facility and physician a true “One call does it all” option to arrange your patient bed placement, physician acceptance and emergency aeromedical transportation. Patients who meet the following criteria may be accepted.

• Cardiac
  • Acute Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack)
  • Unstable Angina
  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Second or Third Degree Heart Block
  • Life-Threatening Dysrhythmia
  • Post Cardiac Arrest
• Vascular
  • Symptomatic or Ruptured Aortic Aneurysm
  • Ischemic Extremity (Arterial Insufficiency)
• Neurosurgical (Confirmed by CT Scan)
  • Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
  • Subdural Hematoma
  • Epidural Hematoma (Extradural Hematoma)
  • Intraparenchymal Hemorrhage
• Stroke
• Trauma
• Any patient requiring evaluation and treatment at a Level I Trauma Center

With the activation of the Acceptance Protocol System, outlying facilities may rest assured their patient enters the UT Medical Center System as soon as their phone call is placed to the Flight Coordination Center. This call also activates physician and support services, including the trauma team, heart catheterization team and other ancillary services as needed.
