What is UT Medical Center's wage scale?
UT Medical Center is fortunate to be located in a region with a lower cost of living than most of the state and nation! Our wages are competitive for this area and are dependent on years of experience. We offer a $4 per hour shift differential and a $3 per hour weekend differential for nurses.

Which benefits are offered? You can view a benefits summary, but some highlights include the following.
- Medical insurance is through BlueCross Blue Shield of Tennessee and is at a very reasonable rate per month. UT Medical Center pays 80% of the total premium for the basic plan.
- Dental insurance and vision care are provided for employees and their families at very reasonable rates.
- Retirement dollars are contributed to your retirement 403(b) retirement fund without requiring matching dollars from you.
- Higher education assistance is available for employees, spouses and dependent children.
- Leave time is generous and includes 6 holidays, 12 annual (vacation) days, 3 personal days, and 10 sick days per year. Annual days increase with years of service.
- UT Medical Center has been recognized as a “family friendly” employer.
How do you handle orientation?
Hospital orientation is offered every two weeks. It consists of a day and a half of information and training. General Nursing orientation starts the last half of the second day and continues through that week and a couple of days into the next week. Nurses are paired with a preceptor and work with him/her for a specific period of time depending on their experience level. For example, a new graduate will be oriented for a minimum of 12 weeks.. A competency based orientation plan is used to assist with the process and ensure that the new nurse is competent before ending orientation.
