UT Hospice - Services Provided

Below are some of the services provided by UT Hospice Services. Call 865.544.6222 for more information.

 

Skilled Nursing Care
Provided by a registered nurse of licensed practical nurse. The nurse carries out the plan of treatment and reports progress to the Interdisciplinary Team. This may include nursing procedures and treatments (ex: pain management and dressing changes) and teaching to the patient, family and nurse if a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Home Health Aide
Provided by a certified home health aide who will help you with your personal care. These services are ordered by the Interdisciplinary Team and are under the supervision of registered nurses.

Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy & Speech – Language Pathology
Therapies may be made available for purposes for symptom control or to enable the individual to maintain activities of daily living and basic functional skills.

Medical Social Services
Provided by a licensed social worker and is a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Medical Appliances & Supplies Including Drugs and Biologicals
Hospice will provide drugs used primarily for pain relief and symptom control related to the individuals terminal illness are covered. Appliances include covered durable medical equipment and other self help and personal comfort items related to the palliation of management of the beneficiary’s terminal illness.

Equipment is provided for use in the beneficiary’s home while he/she is under hospice care. Medical supplies include those that are part of the written plan of care.

Volunteer Services
Volunteer Services are provided as assessed need identified by the interdisciplinary team. 

Counseling Services
Bereavement is an organized program for the provision of bereavement counseling including developing plan of care for these services.

 

  • Dietary Counseling – when required provided by a qualified individual.
  • Spiritual Counseling – must be made available to beneficiary and their families, including giving notice to the beneficiary as to the availability of the clergy.
  • Additional Counseling – may be provided by other members of the interdisciplinary group as determined by hospice.

 

Short-Term Respite Care
Care given to a hospice patient by another caregiver so that the usual caregiver can rest. Arrangements for respite care are made through hospice when needed identified by the interdisciplinary team.

Short-Term Inpatient Stay
A short-term inpatient stay (maximum of 5 days) which may be necessary in order to give temporary relief to those helping with a terminally ill patient’s care.
Arrangements will be made by hospice in a contracted facility.

Physician
Hospice has a medical director on the interdisciplinary team and is on call 24 hours a day, but your regular doctor can also be a part of this team.
