UT Medical Center’s vascular lab received accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL). The accreditation is a means by which noninvasive vascular laboratories can demonstrate and be evaluated on the level of patient care they provide. Through the accreditation process, laboratories assess all aspects of daily operation and their impact on the quality of the healthcare provided to patients.
The ICAVL has accredited more than 1,600 vascular laboratories through a well-established accreditation program since its inception in 1990. In the majority of states, Medicare reimbursement for vascular laboratories hinges on either ICAVL laboratory accreditation or technologist certification.
The vascular laboratory is part of UT Medical Center’s Heart Lung Vascular Institute that provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of heart, lung and vascular diseases, since each of these is interrelated. With exceptional medical professionals and premier technology, the Heart Lung Vascular Institute provides outstanding patient-centered care and focuses on the reduction of incidence of death through patient and community education.
