2005 - 2006 CyberKnife Annual Report Released

In January 2005, the first patient was treated with CyberKnife stereotactic radiosurgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Since then, more than 245 patients have been treated.

Physicians from the Cancer Institute and the Brain and Spine Institute collaborated to bring this cutting-edge technology to patients in East Tennessee and surrounding states, making available stereotactic radiosurgery as an option for those with tumors and painful neurological conditions.

In many cases, CyberKnife is an effective alternative to traditional surgery and involves revolutionary technology that enables treatment of tumors throughout the body at greater convenience and comfort to the patient than other radiosurgery systems for tumors and cancer treatment

This report was compiled to highlight UT Medical Center’s continued commitment and passion to provide the best possible care to those who come to the hospital.
