Screening Mammograms in Kingston

The University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Breast Health Outreach Program will offer screening mammograms 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 at Wellington Place assisted living facility, located at 1098 Bradford Way in Kingston, Tenn.
Women 35 and older are eligible for the screenings and may schedule an appointment by calling UT Medical Center’s Breast Health Outreach Program 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at 865.544.9753. Health insurance is filed for each participant and those without coverage may contact the Breast Health Outreach Program for available options.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation every two minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. The American Cancer Society recommends that women age 40 and older have a screening mammogram (X-ray of the breast) and a clinical breast exam every year. A mammogram can detect breast cancer up to two years before it is large enough to be felt. Detecting breast cancer at an early stage greatly improves chances of survival.
The Breast Health Outreach Program at the University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Cancer Institute provides essential breast health education and screenings to women throughout a 25-county East Tennessee region. Funded by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund, the Breast Health Outreach Program at UT Medical Center has served more than 11,000 women since inception in 1996.
