UT Medical Center Nurses Earn Certification Through the Competency and Credentialing Institute


More than a dozen nurses in the Department of Surgery at The University of Tennessee Medical Center have earned or renewed their Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification through the Competency and Credentialing Institute. Nurses in this group are Randall Booth, RN, BSN, CNOR; Melanie Caviness, RN, CNOR; Terri Chubb, RN, BSN, CNOR; Cissy Coleman, RN, CNOR; Deanna Elliot, RN, CNOR; Geraldine Johnson, RN, MS, CNOR; Jacque Kirk, RN, CNOR; Jan Kyle, RN, CNOR; Glendyle Levinskas, RN, BSN, CNOR; Mary Jane Locke, RN, BSN, CNOR; Alicia Meryweather, RN, BSN, CNOR; Shirley Mitchell, RN, CNOR; Pallas Powers, RN, CNOR; and Chris West, RN, CNOR.

About CNOR Certification and the Competency and Credentialing Institute
In order to be eligible to sit for the CNOR exam a nurse needs to have two years and 2400 hours as an operating room nurse. This certification denotes proficient skills and the ability to provide quality care for patients before, during and after surgery. CNOR certification must be renewed every five years.
