The Cancer Institute and the Heart Lung Vascular Institute will honor the Great American Smoke Out on Nov. 15. Join us in the Spice of Life Café between 10:45 a.m. and 1 p.m., so we can challenge you to smoke less, quit for the day and, most importantly, quit all together! On this day, we will raise awareness of the many effective ways to quit for good.
Stop by our table by the register line to see what we are gobbling about. Gather up your cigarette packs, hand them in and be rewarded—just in time for Thanksgiving.
The American Cancer Society will celebrate the 31st anniversary of the Great American Smokeout on Thursday, November 15. With exactly half of the United States now protected by smoke-free laws, and a variety of cessation resources available, there has never been a better time to quit smoking and enjoy the health benefits.
According to the U.S. Surgeon General in 1990, people who quit smoking, regardless of age, live longer than people who continue to smoke; and quitting smoking substantially decreases the risk of lung cancer, laryngeal cancer, esophageal cancer, oral cancer, pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer and cervical cancer.
