Medal of Honor for Organ Donation

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently awarded the University of Tennessee Medical Center a medal of honor for organ donation. One of four Tennessee hospitals to receive this recognition, the medical center was honored for its work in increasing donation rates and reaching a donation rate of 75 percent or more from eligible donors. Other Tennessee hospitals that won the medal were St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Cookeville Regional Medical Center and Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
