Everyone is invited to an open house at the new East Tennessee Center for Sleep Medicine, a collaborative effort combining the expertise and skills of the sleep medicine physicians and staff from The University of Tennessee Medical Center and St. Mary’s Health System. The open house—2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26—will offer refreshments and tours of the East Tennessee Center for Sleep Medicine’s main sleep testing facilities, located on the ground floor of Building B at UT Medical Center.
The East Tennessee Center for Sleep Medicine, which provides state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services to people throughout East Tennessee, began operations earlier this month. The program offers sleep medicine services locations in Knoxville, LaFollette and Jefferson City.
Studies show that as many as one in every five Americans suffers from some type of sleep disorder, but the overwhelming majority of those cases remain undiagnosed and untreated. Some symptoms of insufficient sleep include tiredness, irritability, edginess, problems concentrating or remembering and withdrawal or belligerence.
