“Our goal here is to do something to help improve health for people communitywide,” said Frank Harp, vice president of 100 Black Men of Greater Knoxville. “Your Health is in Your Hands is the perfect opportunity for every person in this community who is in need of health screenings and information to have those needs met. If you haven’t been to the doctor in some time, this is your chance to look after your health.”

“What we’re hoping to do through the health expo is reach out to the uninsured and medically underserved in the Knoxville community,” said Ben Lewis, a chaplain at UT Medical Center. “With five locations to choose from, we’re hoping this will be as convenient as possible for those in need of these important health screenings. We want people to come out and receive the services they need to begin taking charge of their health.”

In addition to the churches, numerous health providers and community outreach groups are participating in the health expo in order to bring the screenings and information to those who attend. Light refreshments will be available, and door prizes will be awarded at each location throughout the event.
