UT Medical Center Featured on Patient Power: Lowering High Cholesterol

You may not want to watch your cholesterol intake, but your life depends upon it. High cholesterol levels can put you at risk for coronary heart disease, stroke and heart attacks.

UT Medical Center staff and patient interviews with Patient Power, a company dedicated to helping you and your loved ones gain the knowledge needed to make the smartest choices about your health as you seek to fight back against a serious health concern, to share their stories and experience on this important topic.

According to the American Heart Association an estimated 106.7 million adults in the United States have total blood cholesterol values of 200 mg/dL and higher, and of these, about 37.2 million American adults have dangerous levels of 240 or above.

Expert Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, a cardiologist at the UT Medical Center; Jane Kelly, a registered nurse at UT Medical Center, who shared how a healthy diet can make all the difference; and patient Debra Winston participate in this discussion.
