Dr. Lewis presents skin cancer awareness & screening program

In 2009, there will be more than 1 million new cases of skin cancer diagnosed in the United States. The percentage of people who develop melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, has more than doubled in the past 30 years.
Summer is a great time to become aware of how to protect your skin. To learn more about the effects of the harmful UVA/UVB radiation and your skin health, please join the Cancer Institute’s Sun Screeners program at Messiah Lutheran Church (6900 Kingston Pike, Knoxville) on June 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a Skin Cancer Awareness Program to include free skin cancer screenings.
Join James Lewis, MD, surgical oncologist, as he presents information on reducing your risk for skin cancer and melanoma including the importance of screenings that could save your life. Free skin cancer screenings will be available 30 minutes before and after the lecture.
Light refreshments will be served.
An additional Skin Cancer Awareness Program and free skin cancer screenings will be at the Cancer Institute at UT Medical Center on June 29, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
