Kicking off Stroke Awareness Month on May 2, the Healthy Living Kitchen delivers stroke information and special brunch recipes and ideas for welcoming spring in a healthy way. Whether a quiet meal for two or the whole family, learn healthy cooking tips, receive instruction and recipes and enjoy a great meal.
Healthy Living Kitchen, part of the University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Heart Lung Vascular Institute, will present “Spring Brunch: Delicious and Nutritious” on May 2 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Executive Chef Monty Lowans will prepare a special brunch just for the class. Some of the brunch recipes will include homemade turkey sausage, modified shrimp-and-grits tarts and pomegranate fruit salad.
In addition, attendants will receive a presentation by Jennifer Henry, stroke coordinator at the UT Medical Center, on stroke where you can learn about stroke warning signs and stroke risk factors.
The class costs $20, which includes the meal and education.
Seating is limited, so register now by calling 865.544.6877.
