The University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Marketing and Public Relations departments earned six awards from the Tennessee Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (TSHMPR). The annual Prism awards recognize outstanding achievement in healthcare public relations and marketing throughout the state of Tennessee.
“What makes it especially rewarding to earn these honors from our peers in the marketing and public relations profession is to realize the projects recognized all shared stories of our amazing patients here at The University of Tennessee Medical Center,” said Jim Ragonese of the Public Relations Office at UT Medical Center. “I’m proud of the work of our entire team and really appreciate seeing that our physicians and staff continue to have such a positive impact on the lives of the patients and family members they touch.”
TSHMPR representatives recognized UT Medical Center with three Prism Awards, the top honor available, at a recent recognition ceremony in Nashville. One award honored UT Medical Center’s broad efforts to raise awareness of prostate cancer through events such as THE MAN RUN for Prostate Cancer Awareness, THE MAN RIDE for Prostate Cancer Awareness and the series of free prostate cancer screenings provided by the medical center for men throughout the region. Another Prism Award recognized a television commercial for the medical center’s CyberKnife radiosurgery technology, which precisely targets tumors throughout the brain and entire body. The third Prism earned recognized a visual display entitled Prostate Cancer, A Positive Diagnosis, which chronicles the positive changes one man made in his life during a 20-year journey following a prostate cancer diagnosis.
The medical center also received three citations, which recognized UT Medical Center’s website, its comprehensive social media program and the Facebook page of Chemo Bear, the plush teddy bear mascot of the Cancer Institute at UT Medical Center.
