Crothall Healthcare enters into management agreement for housekeeping at UT Medical Center
Published: Wednesday, January 25, 2012
Crothall Healthcare, Inc. will begin managing the Environmental Services Department at The University of Tennessee Medical Center, hospital officials announced. Under the management agreement, Crothall, a healthcare operations company that manages housekeeping for more than 400 healthcare facilities across the country, will employ a director to manage the department and implement the company’s nationally proven room cleaning processes at the medical center. The previous director of the medical center’s Environmental Services Department retired last year, leaving that position open.
The new relationship allows all UT Medical Center Environmental Services custodians to remain hospital employees. They also are welcome to apply for, if they choose, one of the available Crothall managerial and clerical positions that will be based at the medical center.
“Crothall Healthcare brings a wealth of management experience as well as a scientific approach to cleaning in the healthcare setting,” said Norman Majors, senior vice president and Chief Administrative Officer at UT Medical Center. “We believe having the resources of Crothall will allow our employees to have access to the best practices, equipment and products related to their jobs. We also expect the Crothall relationship to assist us in our ongoing efforts to improve our processes and help us navigate the ever changing rules and regulations in the environmental services industry.”
Majors said Crothall expects a new director of the department to begin in February. He adds that all newly hired custodians also will be employees of UT Medical Center.
