The Breast Health Outreach Program (BHOP) of the University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Cancer Institute along with the University of Tennessee College of Communications and Information are pleased to announce the publication of “Breast Health Education for Working Women in Appalachia: Insights from Focus Group Research” in the July 2007 issue of Cancer Control. The article addresses several key themes including health disparities, intersection of culture and literacy, and community-based participatory methods as a result of a research collaboration between BHOP and the College of Communications and Information staff.
The article can be found in the Cancer, Culture and Literacy section of the publication. The journal will soon be available in print and is already available online. John Horton, MB, ChB, FACP, is the journal’s editor, and Julio M. Pow-Sang, MD, served as the issue’s guest editor.
