Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women. Stroke is the third most cause of death. The American Heart Association is hosting its Knoxville Heart Walk, which will take place Saturday, August 25 at 9 a.m. at the University of Tennessee campus Circle Park to help save lives.
There are no fees to participate. However, walkers must raise a minimum of $100 to receive the Heart Walk t-shirt.
Since 1924 the American Heart Association has helped protect people of all ages and ethnicities from the ravages of heart disease and stroke. These diseases, the nation’s number-one and number-three killers, claim more than 910,000 American lives a year. The association invests each year to research, professional and public education, and advocacy so people across America can live stronger, longer lives.
