Located within the Harold Neuenschwander Garden, the Healing Garden is the quiet garden sanctuary located outside between the AllSpice Café and Medical Building B. In partnership with UT’s Green T Club, Knoxville Green and Ms. Maria Compere, the Center Cancer Institute is establishing the Healing Garden for patients, their families, and caregivers. The courtyard is being renovated to include a brick walking path and seating areas nestled among flowering shrubbery and magnolia trees.
Recently, the hardscape for the garden was completed, including the inlays of tribute bricks throughout the walking path. In the coming weeks, Green T is organizing a planting weekend when the garden will come to life with hundreds of plants, shrubs and trees. The dedication of the garden will be held in conjunction with Cancer Survivor Day on Sunday, June 7.
Tribute bricks are still available. If you would like to create a lasting tribute for a loved one, two brick selections are available: 4”x 8” for $150 and 8”x 8” for $300. Monthly or quarterly payment options are available. Your personalized message of tribute and support will be engraved on the brick and it will be laid within a few weeks of purchase.
For more information about the Healing Garden, naming opportunities throughout the garden or purchasing a tribute brick, please contact Rachel Greene in the Development Office, 305.6611 or rgreene@utmck.edu.
