Sleep Disorders Center names director to develop sleep services in Knoxville

 

The University of Tennessee Medical Center recently named Garlena Lee director of the Sleep Disorders Center. In this position, she is responsible for managing a 6-bed sleep lab and clinic that serves 5 physicians. In addition, Lee will develop strategies and tactics to secure leadership position in the sleep medicine market.

“We are very pleased to have Garlena in this position,” said Matt Brown, vice president of Clinical Services at UT Medical Center. “Her energy and knowledge of the East Tennessee healthcare market will be invaluable as we continue to develop sleep services at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. “

Lee joined the medical center in 1985. Previously, she had direct managerial responsibility for all leased and rentable medical center real estate including physician office space, ambulatory surgery center, PET, Cancer Center Institute and satellite radiology locations. Lee has an Associates Degree in Business Management from Walter’s State Community College and Bachelor Degree in Sociology with Business Management Minor from The University of Tennessee.

“I am starting my 25th year at UT Medical Center, and I cannot think of a better place to work,” said Lee. “During my employment here, I have had the privilege to work with some amazing physicians and co-workers. I am excited about this new opportunity that will allow me to be involved in direct patient care.”

Lee lives in Strawberry Plains with her husband, Don. They have three adult sons. She enjoys playing golf, watching UT Football and spending time with her family.
