Patients and patient family members gathered with about 50 staff members of The University of Tennessee Medical Center around two magnolia trees at the medical center’s Boling Pavilion for the first annual Lights of Love Illumination Ceremony. The event served as a kick-off to the holiday season, as the Akima Club Singers entertained and guests enjoyed hot apple cider and pumpkin bread.

Chaplains at UT Medical Center also thanked people for participating in the Lights of Love program, a new year-round program at the medical center that provides a special way to honor or remember a loved one; to recognize a holiday or other special event; to say “thank you” for medical care received at the hospital; or to give a special holiday gift. All donations support the Pastoral Care Program at UT Medical Center.
A light can be purchased for a minimum donation of $15. Names of those being honored or remembered and the names of each donor are listed in the online Lights of Love Remembrance Book and are on display in a special Remembrance Book kept in the hospital chapel.
