Congratulations to Dr. Daniel R. Malcom, pharmacy resident, who won the Award of Excellence in the Intern/Resident Category at the 2009 Comparative & Experimental Medicine Research Symposium at the University of Tennessee. His mentor for the research study entitled “Effect of Therapeutic Hypothermia on Potassium Balance Post Cardiac Arrest” was Mary Ellen Cox, PharmD.

Ten-minute oral presentations were judged on organization and delivery, as well as analysis of data. Interest in the research symposium at the Knoxville campuses of the University of Tennessee has grown exponentially since its inception in 2007, jumping from 15 presenters to more than 80 in just 3 years.
