The Region II EMS Directors Association Annual Conference is a 2-day conference and awards banquet that will take place Oct. 30  - 31 with a preconference on Oct. 29. The conference, located at the Glenstone Lodge in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, will feature many topics, including medical legal documentation, case studies, media and public relations for the EMS System, thoracic trauma and tactical medicine.

The featured speaker is Ken Bouvier, NREMT-P. Bouvier, president of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, was awarded in 1989 the association’s National Emergency Medical Technician of the Year. Currently, he is the fire chief for Monsanto Company in Luling, LA, and is the administrative liaison for the New Orleans EMS. He is best known for his EMS lectures on hazardous material and gun violence and has been a contributor to textbooks and videos as well as published in several trade publications.

On Oct. 29, attendees may choose the free preconference that features ASLS Jennifer Henry, RN, stroke coordinator at UT Medical Center. There also is a Chaplains Sponsored "Grief Following Trauma" on Oct. 30-31. Please call 865.207.4827 to register for the grief program.

The 2-day conference is $95 and $50 for EMS students. The preconference is free and the Thursday night awards banquet is free for conference attendees and $15 for additional tickets.
