
The 2009 TEE UP For Trauma Golf Tournament had its most successful year to date – raising more than $44,000 for the Trauma Department. J.D. Jenkins and David Young were tournament co-chairs and ESPN commentator, Dr. Jerry Punch was the honorary chair.
The University Orthopaedic Surgeons team consisting of Dr. Richard Smith, Dr. William Oros, Dr. Scott Smith and Tim Sykes finished in first place for the 1st Flight and the Rural Metro team players John Mills, Gene Blaylock, Ron Atkins and Billy Tindell finished first place in the 2nd Flight.
“We would like to extend a special appreciation to the committee members, participants and sponsors who made the tournament an overwhelming success and showed their tremendous philanthropic support for our Trauma Department, physicians and staff, and most of all the patients who come to us for help,” said Rick Giecek, chief development officer.
Food City was the presenting sponsor and Pilot Travel Centers sponsored the Hole-In-One. Other major sponsors were University Anesthesiologists, University General Surgeons and University Physicians’ Association.
