The University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine Office of the Dean announces that J. Mark McKinney, M.D., has been named chair of the Department of Radiology. He will join the Graduate School of Medicine Sept. 1.
“The Graduate School of Medicine is very pleased to bring Dr. McKinney on board as the chair of Radiology. He has a unique set of skills, including a clinical background in interventional radiology, that will be a great asset to the Graduate School,” said James J. Neutens, Ph.D., Dean, UT Graduate School of Medicine.
A native of Greeneville, TN, McKinney said, “I’m glad to have the opportunity to be back in East Tennessee and to work with my colleagues in the Department of Radiology as an Interventional Radiologist. I look forward to providing a full range of minimally invasive procedures that will enhance the healthcare of the citizens of East Tennessee. I am also excited to work with the Graduate School of Medicine to further develop the academic and educational goals of the department.”
Previously with the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., McKinney served as chair of the Mayo Clinic Hospital Radiology Practice Team; assistant program director of the Radiology Residency Program for the Department of Radiology; assistant professor of Radiology for the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine; and section head of Interventional Radiology for the Department of Radiology.
McKinney earned his medical degree at Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, Calif., where he also completed his residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship training in interventional radiology. He was appointed chief resident during his residency.
