UT Medical Center’s Website Delivers the Healthcare You Need

Due to increased online traffic and inquiries, the University of Tennessee Medical Center announces the redesign of its website (www.utmedicalcenter.org) to improve users’ navigation through the hospital’s medical services as well as provide a valuable healthcare resource to the East Tennessee region.

The new site is exactly what online users would expect from a hospital website, offering more information at a glance such as how to make an appointment, medical services and descriptions of diseases and various procedures. The website includes universal navigation features, improved search capabilities and tightly integrated content and services, including the addition of thousands of healthcare topics with articles provided by reputable healthcare experts, four-color illustrations and animations. The following are some of the features available.

  • Symptom search.
  • Encyclopedia of diseases and conditions.
  • Make an appointment.
  • In-depth look at the Centers of Excellence—including the Brain and Spine Institute, Cancer Institute, Center for Women’s Health, Emergency and Trauma Services and Heart Lung Vascular Institute—and each of their services.
  • Healthcare news and eNewsletters.
  • Online public class registration and event calendar.
  • Pregnancy and childbirth resources.
  • UT Babies—view your family’s new baby online.
  • Apply for jobs.
  • View more than 140 procedures, including video and animation.
  • Comprehensive Patient and Visitor’s Guide.
  • Online Gift Shop for ordering gifts, flowers, cards and more.

“We are proud to offer this excellent product to the community,” said Becky Thompson, Director of Marketing and Public Information at UT Medical Center. “The new design with improved features, proven usability ease and high-quality healthcare information harmonize all of UT Medical Center’s services and research into one site.”

The new site is focused on educating consumers on healthcare issues and the treatment and care options available to them by bringing this information together into one portal of resources. Visitors to the new site will be encouraged to make healthy lifestyle decisions as well as being given the tools to select proper services for their individual needs.

“By expanding its website, UT Medical Center makes its vast expertise and resources available 24 hours a day,” said Wendi Hope Bishop, Website Editor at UT Medical Center. “The site provides a user-friendly approach to help answer patients’ and visitors’ questions regarding the hospital’s many services.”
