If you’ve ever experienced chronic back pain, you have plenty of company. In fact, eight out of every 10 Americans experience back pain in his or her lifetime. The most common cause of back pain isn’t a dramatic injury, but a lifetime of poor posture. The most effective way to prevent back pain is to correctpoor posture, stay active and maintain flexibility and muscle strength in your back. And remember thetried and true rule: lift with the legs. If your back pain persists for morethan three days, call your physi-cian.
